Automobiles – California PopTop™ was created in 2004 with the idea that vehicles need more sun protection then what a windshield sun-shade can provide. How about your rear window; your side windows? I got started on this idea in 1986 as I watched my new Camaro’s interior start fading after 6 months. People said I should get a sun-shade, but it was the side of my seats that started fading as I parked for 8 to 10 hours while at work.
Helicopters – In 2009 a pilot bought a California PopTop™ for his Smart car. It was 110 degrees that day and the owner of the helicopter company was so impressed with how cool his car was, I was invited to design a cover for his helicopters. When completed, I was asked by many of the Los Angeles helicopter companies to provide a demo. At that point I was in the helicopter cover business. — John Allen, Founder and Owner
